Mini & Junior Tennis Coaching

At Bush Hill Park Tennis Club, we coach youngsters from ages 2-16

1 hour junior group lessons cost £9.50, are booked in 6-8 week blocks in line with school term. 

We run holiday camps in all school holidays. Offering tennis, multi sports and arts and crafts. Standard day 9.30-3.30pm with options to extend day to 8am-5pm. James Mott is a LTA Tutor and Mentor working with Teachers a Local Coaches plus Middlesex County Coach for 9U & 10U Boys. We have an excellent LTA Qualified Team and use up to date methods to develop children’s confidence and tennis skills. We use LTA mini tennis balls, smaller courts and rackets to get your children rallying over the net as soon as possible. Hitting the ball over the net is the most enjoyable part of tennis! We value the social element of tennis and run regular themed parties for our junior players. We foster a positive, supportive attitude and team-working environment.

Do I need to be a member? For holiday camps no we have a set price. However for after school and weekend term time coaching we charge an extra £3 guest fee so it’s better value to join the club. Follow the membership tab for more info on this site. For more membership info, click here 

Do I need a racket? we can provide a racket and no additional cost if you would like to buy a racket we have links with a local shop five minutes walk away from the club.

What should I wear for my Tennis Lesson?  We recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothng and tennis shoes. It’s also important to bring water bottle sunscreen sunglasses and a hat in hot weather. Clothing for winter, whilst we offer Lessons year-round we are an outdoor club with floodlights – parents should provide their child with a winter jacket and possibly gloves. 

Do you offer private Coaching? Yes, we do. Please check out the tab on this website or contact James Mott on (07963) 521305.

Do you accept childcare vouchers? No, not currently this is something we’re looking at over the winter of 2025 2026. This involves Ofsted. All our coaches are DBS checked and LTA qualified. 

Bad weather policy: We do our best to keep coaching sessions going throughout the 52 weeks of the year, cancellations are made and decided on the day by the coaching team. In the event the forecast looks bad. We will do our best to make a call minimum 30 minutes before a lesson. In the event we decide the conditions are unbelievable we will offer a credit or catch up session.

Do you coach performance players? We provide a number of performance squads throughout the week. James Mott is also Middlesex County Coach and regional coach for the Lta. We also have teams for all ages entered into the Middlesex Leagues. 

Holiday camp, FAQs 

Is the day all about Tennis? No Camps are about lots of fun things including sport games and arts and crafts. The physical activities folks on a range of skills coordination that help support children and range of Sports and improve fitness and coordination and build confidence. Social skills are supported through activities that require collaboration and sharing. 

How do you manage in different weather conditions? Parents are asked to provide appropriate clothing for hot and cold weather including hot sunscreen in summer and warm clothes in winter. We have an indoor hall and air-conditioning and heating in the event of Hot weather, cold weather and rain. 

What happens at lunch? Lunchtime to supervised although sharing is nice social behaviour we ask children not to share food as others may have specific food requirements for allergies.

How do you mitigate the exposure to allergens: We have a not free policy. All parents are asked to ensure that they do not include any food for lunch or snacks that contain nuts. Please inform us if you know that your child has an allergy. 

What are the Child to Coach ratios: We keep within the recommending honest NSPCC and LTA guidelines children a group according to age ability and supervised accordingly

Behaviour: We remind children at the start of each day that they must treat everyone with respect and kindness. If they have problems with another child, they should tell a coach immediately. Any bullying or physical aggression will be treated seriously and logged in the incident report book. A judgement will be made Whether to inform Parents immediately, or at the end of the day. Incidents are rare and the atmosphere of Camps is lively and enjoyable. 

My child has a medical condition or learning difficulty: When you sign up on Clubspark, you can disclose any medical conditions or additional needs. This information will be kept confidential but communicated to the Lead Coach. If your Child needs medication during the day it is important that the Coach knows this. Children may Keep their asthma pumps in their day bag, but EpiPens should be put in a plastic bag labelled with your child’s name and given to the lead Coach for secure storage during the day. Any other conditions please discuss with James Mott prior to enrolling. We run an inclusive camp and can accommodate and make adjustments wherever possible.

Junior Tennis Coaching

Adult Tennis Coaching

We provide expert Adult tennis coaching and offer a variety of fun sessions for all levels of player.

Our tennis coaching sessions focus on improving your tennis, giving value for money, and having fun along the way. Be prepared to hit lots of balls!

Sessions include:

Team Coaching: £11.50 for 75 mins. Lots of doubles drills and games based coaching. Contact James Mott for more information 07963521385

  • Mondays 7.00-8.15pm Women
  • Tuesdays 6.45-8.00pm Men

Friday morning ladies sessions where the majority of players playing are parents of existing Juniors. £9 per hour, £12 non members.

  • Friday: 9.30-10.30am Ladies Beginners – Improvers
  • Friday: 10.30-11.30 Intermediate Advanced

1-2-1 coaching £40-55 per hour depending on coach. Extra £5 per addition participant in lesson. Maximum 4 people sharing.

Head Tennis Coach

James Mott has been Head Tennis Coach at Bush Hill Park Club since April 2023. He is a level 4 LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) Licensed Coach and LTA teacher tutor.

 
Aged 17, James spent four years as an LTA Academy player in Wrexham, whilst competing on the national and international circuits and achieving a national ranking of 39. He represented North Wales and Middlesex at Junior and Senior county level. He then went on to gain a BA Hons in Sports Performance at Bath University. Following this James coached and worked in a management capacity for a number of organisations, including the LTA, before developing his own coaching business. He has built up a successful programme at Bounds Green Tennis Club and Broomfield Park and has excellent links with local schools and community organisations and Enfield Council.
 
James currently coaches the Middlesex 9U and 10U County Teams and coaches a number of nationally ranked juniors. He enjoys working with players of all ages, levels and abilities and seeing them grow in confidence and skill. He started playing tennis at the late age of 13 in the local park and believes that with passion and hard work everyone can improve their performance and increase their enjoyment in the competitive or social game.  
 
James says, ‘Bush Hill Park Tennis Club has some of the best facilities in North London and I am certain we can continue to build the programme and good reputation of the club. I want to offer a consistent, high quality and fun programme for all.’

Tennis Coach

Roberto is a level three licensed and qualified coach with nearly a decade of experience working alongside James. A Middlesex division one player Robert it brings a high-level playing ability and a calm engaging Coaching style to every session. He has extensive experience leading holiday camps and is exceptional with Beginner as well also having a strong track record of developing young players from the very first Lessons through to county Level. Roberta is fluent in Spanish and holds a masters degree in economics and finance from the University of Sussex, adding professionalism and strong organisational skills to his coaching approach. you can contact Roberto via 07582138666
